New Child Support Guidelines Challenged

New child support guidelines in Massachusetts are causing quite a stir amongst single dads in the state. Although one group attempted to stop the guidelines from going into effect this month, their case was denied by the Supreme Judicial Court this week.

The group filed suit against the chief justice for administration and management last month. They argued that the guidelines denied them certain rights as fathers and should be nullified immediately. However, the higher court agreed with the lower court's ruling that these fathers could challenge the new guidelines in individual cases, not together as a class action-style lawsuit.

Are you having trouble meeting child support deadlines? If so, now is the right time to engage the services of a family law attorney in your city of residence. It is possible to have the support order modified when you have an attorney representing your best interests both in and out of court.
