Terrell Owens Heading to Court for Child Support Proceedings

Another NFL superstar finds himself in court this month as he stands accused of failing to make child support payments.

According to court documents, Terrell Owens has failed to make the full amount of his last child support payment to Melanie Paige Smith, the mother of his child. Smith has asked that Owens be held in contempt of court for failing to make the full payment. Her request will be considered on July 26th at the Fulton County Superior Court. Smith's lawyer, Randal Kessler, stated that Owens failed to make the full monthly payment of $5,000 to Smith last month, causing concern about future payments as well.

At this time Drew Rosenhaus, Owens' agent, is not returning any phone calls regarding the matter. It is known that Owens is recovering from a knee injury and cannot be signed with any team until the NFL lockout has been resolved.

When you are unable to make your child support payments, you could find yourself in serious legal trouble. Call a family law attorney now to discuss the details of your case and how you can protect yourself from future legal battles.
