North Dakota Child Custody Law Re-Written

Recently on kxmb.com - In Bismarck, North Dakota a major child custody law rewrite has been approved by an interim Legislative Committee.  The new bill was drafted by a state Bar Association task force.

The recently approved bill includes "parenting plans" that help determine when a child should be with each parent.  The plans also call for a parenting coordinaor who would help resolve disputes between both parents and children.

While the bill will not fix all problems involved with child custody cases, it is still a huge step in the right direction.

According to kxmb.com, "The bill also changes some wording so that "custody" becomes "parental rights and responsibilities" and "visitation" becomes "residential responsibility." The 2009 Legislature will consider the changes."
