Gary Coleman's Ex Asks Court to Recognize Common Law Marriage

In Salt Lake City, the ex-wife of Gary Coleman is asking that a judge formally recognize her as the child star's surviving spouse.

Last week, Shannon Price filed paperwork with the 4th District Court which stated that she and Coleman had continued to live together and represented themselves as a married couple, despite their divorce in 2008.

Now, Price wants the court to recognize her common law marriage with Coleman from the date of their divorce to his tragic death in May 2010.  Price is seeking the declaration as part of her battle over Coleman's estate.  In May, Coleman died after he suffered a brain hemorrhage.  He was 42 years old.

Coleman had multiple handwritten wills that addressed his estate.  Days after his 2007 marriage, he wrote that Price was his sole heir.  However, Coleman's ex-girlfriend Anna Gray contests that a 2005 document awards her the actor's estate.
