Child Support Check Goes to Wrong Person

In Charlotte, it is being reported that there is a dispute between a woman and Mecklenburg County Child Support Enforcement over a child support check that was never received.  The Charlotte woman claims that a $1,000 child support payment went to the wrong person.

The father of Aliya Minter's daughter alleges to have filed the child support checks to his local agency in South Carolina, but Child Support Enforcement claimed to have not received the checks.  Once the father presented the check numbers to prove the transactions took place, the agency admitted to the mistake.

Regarding a conversation with the agency, Minter said, "That's when they came back saying, 'Oh yeah, we did receive those checks.  However, they went to another person.'"

The other person turned out to be someone else to whom the father owed child support.  The director of the agency claims she and the agency are currently working to resolve the situation with Minter.
