Child Support Sweep Nets 10 Arrests

In Hays County, law enforcement agents have reported that they arrested 10 parents this week during a child support sweep.  Throughout the week, constables targeted parents in the county who had failed to make court-ordered child support payments on time.

Attorney General Greg Abbott said, "Parents have a moral and legal obligation to make regular child support payments."  He said that by having officers collect child support, the county is ensuring that young children have the resources they need to be healthy and strong.

It is said that the sweep began on Monday at 4:00 AM when eight teams of law enforcement officers were sent to arrest delinquent parents before they left their homes for the day.  Investigators from the child support division aided constables by offering logical assistance so they could locate parents.

Are you currently owed past due child support?  If so, you should seek help from a family law attorney as soon as possible.
