Extremely Troubled Marriage ends in Fatal Domestic Dispute

By The Meyers Law Group, P.C.  Sep. 6, 2013 8:30a

The 11-year marriage between a Queens couple came to a tragic end recently when 34-year-old M.S. was killed and his wife, 51 years old, was arrested for murder. According to the NYPD, the two had a history of numerous domestic disputes including a domestic violence complaint filed by the man's wife, M.E. M.S. also has a criminal record involving larceny and a 2004 sexual assault conviction which involved a 15-year-old girl. The couple had reportedly had many arguments regarding money and other issues. The current incident which resulted in M.S.'s death began at around 8:00 a.m. when M.E. was trying to get the keys to the couple's SUV.

She was able to get the keys from M.S. and was trying to get into the vehicle but he blocked her way. M.E. managed to push him out of the way at which point he became increasingly angry. He got onto the hood of the car in an effort to prevent his wife from being able to drive away but she accelerated in reverse and hit a parked car. The maneuver failed to shake her husband from the hood of the SUV so she sped forward down the street. It was estimated that she reached speeds of up to 80 mph and went through several red lights with M.S. on the hood. After about nine blocks, M.E. performed a U-turn, travelled a couple more blocks and then crashed the front of the SUV into another car. Her husband was pinned between the two cars and was killed instantly.

Two people in the car she hit were taken to the hospital with injuries from the wreck. M.E. was taken into custody and charged with assault, manslaughter and murder. She is being held without bail. If your spouse has become violent with you then it is crucial that you consult with knowledgeable legal help immediately before things escalate. A divorce attorney skilled in handling domestic violence issues may be able to help you get the legal protection you need.
