Man Faces Up To Nine Years in Prison for Domestic Dispute

A man that admitted to placing his girlfriend and her child in danger during a domestic abuse incident, is facing 4 ½ to nine years in jail, as reported by The Times Herald from New Hanover, PA.

The man, M.E.G., 38, has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges involving terrorist threats and recklessly endangering other persons in Montgomery County Court.

Sentencing has been postponed by Judge Garrett D. Page while an investigation into M.E.G.'s background is completed.

The current charges carry the weight of almost nine years in prison.  M.E.G. is currently released on bail while he awaits his sentencing.

The incident occurred in M.E.G.'s home on April 30 at approximately 7 p.m.  New Hanover police were called to a home on 24000 block of Romig Road due to a man that had locked himself in a garage.

The arrest affidavit reads that M.E.G. planned to "shoot the next person that opened the door."

Additional assistance to the New Hanover  police department was supplied by officers from Douglass (Mont.) and Lower Pottsgrove police departments.

Officers were unable to make contact with M.E.G. and convince him to exit the garage on his own.  After repeated attempts, per court papers, they forced open the garage door to take him into police custody.

M.E.G. was found highly intoxicated, with a 20-gauge loaded shotgun nearby.  Also noted in the arrest affidavit was that the weapon's safety was in the off position and a box of extra bullets was also close at hand.

Before entering the home's garage, M.E.G. allegedly had been arguing with his girlfriend inside of the home.  He then tried to stop the woman from using her cellular phone, to call for police help, by grabbing her hand.   The woman then allegedly called out to her son to call 911 from the house phone for her.

M.E.G. had allegedly told the woman during the dispute, "If you call those cops again, I'm locking and loading and nobody's getting out of here."

After M.E.G then went into the garage, the woman quickly fled the house bringing along three children.  Once safely outside, she was able to freely contact authorities to tell them what was happening in the home.

M.E.G. admitted to threatening to commit a crime of violence with terrorist threats - with the intent of terrorizing his girlfriend, and recklessly endangering other persons - putting both his girlfriend and child in danger of death or serious bodily injury.

According to court documents, once M.E.G. pleads guilty to these two charges other charges - simple assault, intimidation of witnesses, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct - will be dismissed in a plea exchange.
