Politician Answers to Failure to Pay Claims

The ex-wife of a Congressman has claimed that her ex-husband owes her more than $117,000 in child support payments. The Congressman has responded claiming that he kept up with the payments and shared the costs of sending his children to private schools. The couple's children are all now grown, and the ex-wife is claiming that she incurred all the costs of their education.

Countering her assertions, the Congressman claims that in the five-year period since he and his wife split, the pair has agreed to multiple changes in child support payments and that the couple's children lived with him half of the time. Recently, at the petition of the ex-wife, the Congressman was ordered to prove in court that he was not more than $100,000 behind on his child support payments. The Congressman is currently seeking re-election. It is unclear whether this child support case will hurt the Congressman's chances.

When your ex falls substantially behind on their child support payments, turn to the help of a family law attorney to make sure that your children have the support that they need.
