Amber Portwood of Teen Mom Charged with Domestic Violence

Amber Portwood, star of MTV's hit reality show "Teen Mom", could be facing a felony domestic violence charge. On the show, Portwood can be seen punching, shoving, slapping, and choking her boyfriend; however, because several of these incidents happened in front of their 1-year-old daughter, two of the three can be considered felonies.

Police in Madison County, Indiana - Portwood's hometown - have filed a probably cause affidavit that could lead to her arrest if the prosecutor decides to file formal charges. If Portwood is convicted, she could face up to three years in prison and have to pay fines of $10,000.

According to police spokesman Mitch Carroll an investigation on Portwood's activities began 7 weeks ago when "Teen Mom" showed several scenes of interest that had been shot over the summer. In them Portwood shoves her boyfriend, Gary Shirley against a wall, kicks him, punches him in the face, and chokes him, all while their child is sitting just a few feet away from the violence.

Charged with domestic violence?  Now is the time to work with a family law attorney.
