Walk Organized in Honor of Domestic Violence Victim

After losing members of their community to domestic violence, over 700 people gathered to participate in a memorial walk to raise awareness about their tragedy.

A young mother and her two children were shot and killed this June in Maine by her estranged spouse. The community was shocked to learn about the death of the kindergarten teacher, along with her 13-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter. The memorial walk was put together by a friend of the family, a fellow teacher at a local school. Altogether, the walk raised $10,000 that will be given to a domestic violence awareness program, as well as a scholarship fund in the family's name.
