Men Don Heels for Domestic Violence Awareness

In order to raise awareness about domestic violence in their state, twelve men did something they had never done before.

The event, entitled "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes", was sponsored by a diverse council. The men from the council donned pumps and stilettos to cross the Centennial Bridge and walk to Schwiebert Riverfront Park. Although the men were happy to participate in the important event, one man said that he lost feeling in his feet about halfway through.

Each year, hundreds of domestic violence cases find their way to the court system, but they represent only a fraction of the actual domestic abuse cases that happen around the state. One victim shared her story with the men about how her husband beat her brutally after she lost his cell phone prior to the commencement of the walk.

Are you a victim of domestic violence? Stop the abuse and hurt now by enlisting the help of a family lawyer as soon as possible.
