Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Child Support

Think you can get away with not paying your child support? While you may avoid payments for several months, even years, the legal system may catch up with you sooner or later.

One man from Port Clinton learned this the hard way when he was found guilty of three counts of felony non-support. After hearing the details of his case, a judge accepted his plea of guilty and sentenced him with some stiff penalties.

In addition to paying court costs and completing 100 hours of community service, the man was sentenced to five years of probation. He must also complete an assessment for substance abuse problems and mental health issues.  If he does not start making monthly payments, the 34-year-old man could face up to three years in prison.

Are you having problems making your child support payments? Get in touch with a family lawyer as soon as possible or else you may be facing legal penalties that range from fines to time in jail.
