Charlie Sheen Temporarily Looses Custody of Children

Charlie Sheen and estranged wife Brooke Mueller have failed, via their attorneys, to work out an amicable custody arrangement for their two children, and the case will now be handled in the courts, as reported by Contra Costa Times and other media outlets.

Ever since Charlie Sheen took on controlling his own sobriety, his erratic behavior, especially in his very vocal rants, have caused many in Hollywood, including his “Two and a Half Men” show producers and his estranged wife, to make drastic changes.

For the former it was the cancellation of the remaining shows in the season.  For the latter, in regards to Mueller, she no longer felt that the couple’s two twin boys should be left alone with Sheen.

Mueller, armed with a order for temporary custody last week, had the children removed from Sheen’s home.  She cited both Sheen’s questionable behavior and the fact that he had made threats against her.

The two are in the process of a divorce.

Mueller has requested that a monitor be present from now on when the children visit their father in his home.  Besides Mueller’s contention that Sheen is behaving erratically, she also wants to ensure that her children are not exposed to any of Sheen’s “girlfriends” that may attempt to exercise parental responsibilities.

Sheen has been very open about having relationships with prostitutes.

Gloria Allred, who had represented Brittany Ashland in 1996 in a misdemeanor battery against Sheen, said that the actor has a pattern of abuse.  She strongly suggested that the Los Angeles police should be investigating him before things grow any worse.

Allred commented, “This is the same individual making threats who attacked her before, there is enough here. (Authorities) should be proactive in a situation like this. This is a public safety matter because he could endanger others, including the police officers who respond to a domestic violence call.”

Los Angeles police state that they cannot begin an investigation unless Mueller files a complaint –  which she has failed to do at this time.

But Mueller did accuse Sheen of being “insane”, and with that, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Hank Goldberg issued a restraining order against him.

Among other verbal threats, Mueller contended that Sheen told her, “I will cut your head off, put it in a box and send it to your mom!”

The couple separated in 2009 following a domestic violence incident while vacationing in Aspen, Colo.  In that instance Mueller claimed that Sheen restrained her with a knife.   He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor third-degree assault.

Earlier this year, after an extensive party in Sheen’s home prompted the actor to seek rehabilitation, production on his popular television show was put on hold.  Later, when Sheen chose to publicly rant about the show’s co-creator, Chuck Lorre, CBS cancelled the remaining shows in the season.
