Father Behind Bars after Fighting to Obtain Custody for 3 Years

After fighting to obtain custody of his little girl for the past three years, a father now finds himself behind bars for stealing welfare benefits.

The Ohio man has been fighting with the foster mother in California to retain custody of his little girl, who is just a toddler. After arguing for three years, the two finally came to an agreement regarding child custody. The women would be granted permanent custody of the little girl, but would also agree to drop her petition for adoption.

While this was not seen as a complete victory for the father, it was a step in the right direction. While the child custody case was coming to a close, a different set of prosecutors then pressed charges against the father for theft of welfare benefits, serious charges that could land him several years in prison. The father went before a different judge to plead for his case, begging the judge to keep him out of jail so he could see his little girl; shortly after, the judge denied his request.
