Police Catch On To Child Support Scam

A woman is in serious trouble now that police have discovered the scam she was running. Regina Thompson, 38, was able to collect over $1,600 in child support payments from her ex-boyfriend using her child's baby as a stand-in.

According to Doughtery County Sheriff's Capt. Craig Dodd had the ex, Joseph Golden, convinced that the little girl was his. He paid his child support dutifully over two years and even had pictures taken at one of the girl's birthday parties. The little girl's mother, Lastraga McCloud, supposedly didn't know anything about Thompson's schemes.

Thompson might have gotten away with her plans longer had the girl, now five-years-old, started talking more and eventually telling the ex that he wasn't her father.

Thompson has been charged with five counts of theft.

Whether you have experienced difficulty in obtaining child support payments or you believe that you shouldn't be paying them at all, you need to hire a family law attorney today to get the legal advice you need.
