Michigan Collects Over $100 Million in Delinquent Child Support

According to Michigan's Attorney General Bill Shuette, his office has collected over $100 million in delinquent child support funds.

The program, which began in 2005, fights for "families, single moms, single dads, in terms of collecting child enforcement payment." Since its inception, the program has helped nearly 9,000 individuals by collecting $100 million. Michigan is unique in that it is the only state that has a four year felony charge if child support payments are not made by a parent that is eligible to pay. Shuette added that, "We have a very unique law, we are aggressive on it, [and] we are going to continue fighting for families."
