Judge Sides with Bristol Palin in Child Support Case

A judge has ruled that Levi Johnston will pay child support to Bristol Palin, daughter of former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Johnston and Palin have one-year-old son together, Tripp. Palin was seeking both future and past-due child support. The judge sided in her favor, and ordered Johnston to pay $1,600 a month from here on out and $18,000 in overdue child support. Palin also won the right to subpoena Johnston’s commercial earnings as well.

Palin has been asking Johnston for $1,750 a month in child support since their child was born, but Johnston claims his income isn’t stable enough to meet those demands.

Despite this battle, Palin and Johnston are trying to put aside their differences and put their son first. Palin has both physical and legal custody of Tripp, but her attorney says she is working with Johnston to arrange Saturday visits. They are also working with their attorneys to create a more regular custody and visitation schedule, and hope to have everything in place by their next court appearance, scheduled for September 23.

Whether your ex is refusing to pay support or you need help creating a new child support order, a skilled family law attorney can help. Child support is a hotly contested issue, and an attorney can see to it that your legal rights are upheld and that your particular objectives are achieved.
