Child Custody Battle Continues Between Domestic Partners

In Vermont, it is reported that a child custody battle between former lesbian partners has reignited.  Now, the issue will have to be settled in court even though the child that the former couple is fighting over is still missing.

On January 1st, the eight year old and her birth mother (Lisa Miller) both failed to appear in court.  They were supposed to appear in court so Miller's former partner, Janet Jenkins, could have custody of the child.

At this time, the girl has been listed as missing.  Jenkins' lawyer told reporters that he believes Miller and the eight year old are in El Salvador and have been there since September.  On June 23rd, Miller's attorneys are expected to argue that the court erred when it awarded child custody to Jenkins in November.

If you need assistance with a child custody matter, it is in your best interests to obtain the services of an experienced family lawyer as soon as possible.
