New Jersey Arrests 26 for Past Due Child Support

As part of a state roundup, 26 people were tracked down and arrested by the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.  According to police, the 26 people that were placed under arrest for failure to pay child support owed a total of $224,830 to their children.

From June 22nd until June 24th, over 30 law enforcement officers formed 14 teams that worked tirelessly to catch parents that owed child support payments.  The teams spread across Somerset County and the state of New Jersey to serve warrants and make arrests.

According to Somerset County Sheriff Frank Provenzano, "The purpose of the sweep is to apprehend those parents who have neglected to pay their court-ordered child support and impel them to comply."

If you are owed child support or have failed to pay child support, it is important that you seek help from a family law attorney as soon as possible.  By securing help from a family lawyer, you can deal with your child support issues now and possibly avoid future consequences.
