Man Charged with 8 Counts of Failing to Pay Child Support

Don't expect to get away easily when you owe child support in Racine. Tommie L. Kelley, 41, has more than $30,000 in unpaid child support that could land him with criminal charges. At this time he has been charged with eight counts of failing to pay child support.

For each charge he could be forced to pay $10,000 in fines and spend 3.5 years in prison or supervision. Each charge represents a period of time that he failed to pay child support; they span from January 2005 to January 2010.

The mother of his children, now ages 11, 13, and 19, insists that he has not been making his court-ordered payments on time. Kelley had been ordered to pay amounts between $26 to $71 per week by the court. As of late October, he owed $31,978.53.
