Man Sentenced with Jail Time for Delinquent Child Support

This week, a man from Chicago admitted that he had not paid child support to the mother of his teenage son for over a decade.  For his confession, he was sentenced with two years of jail time.

Michael D. Strobel of Woodstock pled guilty to failure to support a minor dependent, which is a Class 4 felony.  It is alleged that Strobel did not pay support from June 2000 toll September 2009, making him $43,000 behind on payments.

Now, Stobel's son is 13 years of age and county prosecutors say that Stobel had been keeping up with his support obligation for another child in the city of Lake County.

Thomas Carroll, chief of the civil division for the McHenry County State's Attorney said that Stobel, "was paying support for that (child), but not this one."

If you are owed past due child support payments, now is the time to discuss your situation with a family law attorney.
