John Edwards Expected to Admit Paternity of Mistress' Child

The paternity controversy surrounding former U.S. Senator and presidential candidate John Edwards is expected to come to an end.

According to North Carolina TV station WRAL, Edwards is expected to admit that he is the father of his former mistress' 18-month-old daughter.

Edwards admitted to having an affair with Rielle Hunter, a woman who worked as a videographer on his 2008 presidential campaign.  Despite admitting to the affair, Edwards continually denied he was the father of Hunter's daughter, stating that his relationship with Hunter ended before the child was conceived.

A federal grand jury is now investigating whether or not Edwards used campaigned funds to pay Hunter to keep quiet about the affair.

One of Edwards' long-time aides, Andrew Young, first came forward claiming to be the father, but is now reportedly writing a tell-all book in which he claims Edwards in the father.

Edwards has been married to his wife Elizabeth for 32 years. Together they have four children. Their oldest son Wade was killed in a car accident in 1996. Elizabeth was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and again in 2007 when her cancer returned.
