A Pittsburgh woman was killed by her ex-boyfriend recently just days after deciding to seek a protection from abuse order (restraining order). 22-year-old M.A. had been in a relationship with C.H., 27 years old, for several years but had been separated for a time recently. The two have three children together, ages one, three and four years old. The two had had a rocky relationship over the years and M.A. had once obtained a protection from abuse order (PFA) four years ago when he threatened her. The two seemed to work things out after that and had two more children together. Circumstances seemed to have drastically changed in recent months, however, and C.H. had become estranged while also displaying increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior. C.H. had been arrested in early November after reportedly biting M.A. while trying to take her phone from her. He also allegedly threatened to kill her. He was arrested and charged with simple assault and other charges but posted bond and was released. M.A. filed for a PFA and C.H. filed for one against her stating that she drove by his house holding a shotgun and issuing threats. Several days later, authorities say that C.H. approached M.A. as she was leaving from work and shot her multiple times with a semi-automatic handgun. She was rushed to the hospital but died of her injuries. Police later surrounded C.H.'s home but he refused to come out. He shot himself in the head and was found dead.
