Man Arrested for Domestic Violence after Lengthy Standoff

By Jones Law Firm  Jul. 13, 2012 10:51a

Denver police responded to a domestic violence call around 3:00 in the afternoon. Upon arriving on the scene officers obtained further information about the 31-year-old man suspected in the incident. It turned out that he had a previous domestic violence warrant as well as several others for misdemeanor crimes. Police attempted to take the man into custody on the arrest warrants as well as the current call but he refused to come out of his house. Denver PD then set up a perimeter around the home which closed off the street and required local traffic to detour around the area. Several hours later at around 6:00pm, officers were able to arrest the individual suspected of domestic abuse. Don't hesitate to get the professional legal help of a divorce attorney skilled in domestic violence issues if you or a member of your family has been the victim of abuse or violence in the home.

Domestic Abuse Issues

Domestic abuse can come in many forms and sometimes the victim may not even realize that a dangerous pattern is developing until a more serious situation occurs or there is a severe act of violence. The state refers to domestic abuse as an instance where there has been abuse, assault or battery of either an emotional or physical nature concerning individuals with some sort of family or household relationship. This may include spouses or a significant other, girlfriend / boyfriend, children, parents, other family members, roommates or housemates and the like. Abuse may not start with actual physical harm; it may begin with psychological abuse or threats which then can develop into acts which cause serious physical injury. Sometimes the abuse has gradually escalated for so long that a victim has trouble seeing that there is something wrong—or that individual may feel that there is no safe way out.
