Seinfeld’s “The Marriage Ref” Facing Lawsuit for Marriage Breakup

By Jonathan E. Kroll & Associates, PLLC  Oct. 19, 2011 4:36p

Several months ago, a New York man who had appeared on Jerry Seinfeld's reality show "The Marriage Ref" sued both Seinfeld and the show, proclaiming that his wife became obsessed with becoming a star after appearing on the show and that it broke up their marriage. The defendant appeared on the show last year with his wife and a celebrity panel. He claims they went on the show with a promise that their financially ailing spa would be promoted on the show but this didn't happen. Additionally, he claimed that he and his wife were encouraged to bicker while on camera during the filming process and that his wife then became obsessed with becoming a reality TV star. Not long after the show, the defendant's wife then landed a small part in a comedy called 'Chakra Love" and ran off with the producer to Canada.

Seinfeld's Response to the Lawsuit

Seinfeld had an interesting response to the whole matter and was basically unperturbed. He told the New York Daily News that he enjoys it when people get upset. This is one of the more unusual divorce situations out there, but it is an interesting one.
