Prenuptial Agreements Can Save Future Headaches

When newlyweds are at the altar giving each other their wedding vows, the furthest thing from their mind is that the relationship might not exist in the future; however, that possibility is most definitely there. Many marriages wind up in
divorce and one way to prevent future headaches is to plan ahead of time for this possibility and create a
prenuptial agreement. If you do get separated or divorced in the future, then agreements have been laid out ahead of time and the separation process is much easier on both.
The Agreement
A prenuptial agreement (also called a pre-nup) is a legal document that engaged couples have created mainly for the purpose of dividing up assets they possess separately so in the event of a break up, it will be determined ahead of time exactly how those assets are to be divided. Some believe that prenuptials are for the wealthy who have large amounts of assets, but this is a myth. Many couples who have few or moderate assets enter into prenuptial agreements, especially if there are children involved. An agreement like this can define how children will be protected in the event of separation or divorce or even in the event of death.
Prenuptial Agreement Lawyers
In many churches a pre-marriage counseling service is offered for those about to tie the knot and this is done with the idea of strengthening the bonds for the overall relationship. A prenuptial agreement can also strengthen the bond between two people as it provides a transparency up front, as well as responsible planning in case things do turn in a different direction.
