Mother Who Kidnapped Her Own Son Still Being Sought by Police

By Claery & Green, LLP  Dec. 30, 2011 4:53p

The mother of a 3-year-old boy decided to take matters into her own hands in early November during a scheduled visitation with her son.  The two have yet to turn up or be located.  Local police are hoping for any information that will lead to the return of the boy to his anxious father.   The father has sole custody of the child while the mother, 48-year-old I.S., is allowed supervised visits with her son on a weekly basis.  During her last visit, I.S. managed to trick the social worker assigned to supervise the visit and escape with her son.  Whether it was thought out beforehand or was a spur of the moment act, the mother of the toddler locked the worker in a parking structure somehow and proceeded to abduct her son.  They were seen getting into her black four-door sedan and driving away.  Do you have a custody matter that you need skilled legal help with in the greater LA area?  Speak with a Los Angeles divorce attorney as soon as possible to see what may be done for your case.

Father Has Sole Custody of Son

No details were given as to why the father of the 3-year-old has sole custody rights or why the mother is only allowed weekly monitored visitation with her son.  There are many reasons that a judge may decide that custody should be awarded solely to one parent.  The courts generally make such decisions based on what is the greatest good for the child.  Whether it is joint custody or if primary custody or sole custody is awarded to one parent over the other, it is with the belief that that will create the most stable and nurturing environment for the child to grow up in.  If you feel your parental rights are being violated or that modifications need to be made in a custody or visitation agreement, you should contact a lawyer right away.
