Seven Indicted for Failure to Pay in One County

Authorities in Cuyahoga County are working hard to nab parents that fail to make child support payments. Seven people were indicted last week on charges of negligence to make child support. The total amount owed by the seven people is $183,810. Although men are normally the parents labeled as "deadbeat," there were two women indicted for failure to make child support payments. One of the women, 37-year-old J.R., has been indicted on three counts. She is currently behind $70,130 in payments for her teenage son. The other woman, M.C., 41, owes over $15,000 for her 10-year-old son. The last time she made a payment was back in 2011 for the amount of $10.

The five men owe thousands of dollars each, ranging from $7,341 to $31,061. Most of these men have not made payments in years, and even then the payments were much smaller than the expected payments. Are you owed past due child support payments? If so, take the time to speak with a family lawyer so you are aware of your legal options.
