U.S. Senate Candidate Blames Divorce for Financial Problems

A candidate for U.S. Senate has been trying place the blame on his divorce for his financial problems. When asked about his trouble with finances, Connie Mack told reporters that his divorce has burdened him economically. However, a quick search into his background reveals that he has had financial problems well before he decided to terminate his marriage. In 2004, Mack was unable to make his federal tax payments. He asked his father-in-law for the money but still didn't pay his taxes until months after the deadline.

The candidate filed an affidavit several months after filing for divorce stating that he was spending more than he was making. In that document, Mack claimed to be spending $2,300 more than his income allowed each month.
