$250,000 in Domestic Violence Grants Rewarded

Last month more than $250,000 was awarded in grants for domestic violence victims in the state of Florida.

Thanks to one well-known program backed by a phone company, several organizations in the state were given the financial assistance they needed to continue their own public outreach programs. All of the organizations work to help domestic violence victims as well as reduce the incidence of domestic violence in the state.

Several organizations were awarded large grants, including $50,000 to the Institute for Family Violence studies and $20,000 to Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University. The school started its own research program, entitled Violence Interruption Process, to study how abusive behaviors and situations arrive and how they can be changed, and thus avoided. In addition to these two grants, other universities, domestic violence shelters and community groups were given smaller grants to sustain ongoing efforts.

Are you a victim of domestic violence? If so, put an end to the abuse by working with a family law attorney.
