Man Fails to Pay $420,000 in Child Support

You can try to outrun the law but they will eventually catch up, especially when it comes to overdue child support payments.

Police in counties across the country are cracking down on those who are negligent in making child supports payments, including investigators in Carson County. They were finally able to track down David Zearl Martin, 56, who has eluded them for over 13 years.

Since he was first ordered to make child support payments back in 1997, Martin has racked up a serious bill of $420,000 in unpaid child support. Investigators were able to locate him in, of all places, Jordan when a FBI agent recognized him in the crowd. After following him and alerting local authorities Martin was detained and deported from Oman earlier this year. At that time he was trying to enter the country illegally without a valid passport.

Martin went before a federal judge this week and pleaded guilty to his charge of criminal non-support, which is a state jail felony.

If you're owed child support, hire a family lawyer who can help you collect the payments that are due to you.
