Working Through Divorce with Mediation

If you are considering divorce, you should think about using mediation before resorting to legal teams.

Rather than relying on a lawyer to help you come to an agreement with your spouse, you can use a divorce mediator instead. This is a third party that remains neutral to help you negotiate divorce terms that both parties can be satisfied with. However, the mediator is only present to help both sides talk to one another, he/she does not offer any advice or make any final rulings regarding your divorce settlement.

You can also use the process of arbitration if you want a third party to make a final decision for you.  This is also done out of court, but the final divorce agreement would have to be brought before a judge in order to become legally binding.

Should mediation not prove to be successful, you can then call a family law attorney to get the legal help you need.
