Texas Attorney General Child Support Employee Charged with Tax Fraud

Eloisa Garcia Casso, a former employee of the Texas Attorney General's Child Support Division, has been convicted of tax fraud charges this week.

According to the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations Special Agent in Charge Rodney E. Clarke, along with United States Attorney Jose Angel Moreno, Casso pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the US government. She went before United States District Judge Diana Saldana to hear the verdict returned by a federal grand jury that convicted her.

Along with her co-conspirators, Casso took information obtained at work to file fake Form 1040 tax returns. She then took this income and diverted it to bank accounts that she had access to or owned. This occurred between January 2001 and March 2005. Casso was the last of three to plead guilty, joining the ranks of Rosa Herrera and Jacqueline Velasquez. Each of the three women could face up to five years in jail and pay a fine of $250,000.

If you're in need of child support, now is the time to speak with a family lawyer.
