Father Takes Daughter after Child Custody Fight

Parents of a 4-year-old child got into a serious argument that led to even more serious accusations earlier this month. When police arrived on the scene, one of the parents was arrested on assault charges for fighting the parameters of the child custody order.

The two were attempting to exchange their child as arranged when the father became enraged. He forced the mother of the child into the car and sped away with the child in tow. Even though the woman tried to stop the man from driving by hitting him repeatedly, it wasn't until he lost control of the car and crashed that she was able to escape.

Despite being unrestrained in the back seat, the young child was relatively unharmed. Based on the investigation conducted by detectives, the father was charged with two assault charges and providing false information to the police. Police determined that the woman should not be charged with assault since she was trying to protect her child.
