Police Officer Embezzled to Pay Alimony

The last person you think will run a criminal scam is a chief of police, but that is sadly the case in the state of Washington.

The suspect, a 52-year-old male, concocted a scheme in which he stole Social Security benefits from mentally handicapped persons to pay his own bills. He had racked up thousands of dollars worth of bills for alimony and gambling debts and claims he had no other way of paying the debt off in time.

His embezzlement scam began in 2005 when he took over as the director of a non-profit that helps handicapped people. Once he became familiar with the system, he started to use monies intended to pay utility bills and rents for his own bills.

There are dozens of people affected by his scam, which amounted to $625,666, the exact amount he has since been ordered to pay by a federal judge. The news shocked his former community where he had served as chief as chief of police for nearly 22 years.

If you can't afford your alimony payments, you should speak with a family lawyer in your area about modification as soon as possible.
