Country Takes New Measures to Increase Child Support Collections

One country has decided to conquer the problem of late child support payments by deducting payments directly from pay-packets.

In addition to changing the method of payment collection, a political official announced that several more changes will be made regarding child support payments. Judges will be asked to use new calculations for child support that will reflect more modern economic figures for raising a child. In addition, the amount of time a child spends overnight with the non-custodial parent will be reflected by a deduction in payment, ranging from 28% to 40% of the nights spent with the parent.

From now on, child support payments will be calculated based on both parents' income, rather than just the paying parent. The government hopes that these measures will encourage parents to make child support payments in the future, as well as paying off accumulated debts. By making payments smaller and more reasonable, the government believes that parents who struggled with making child support payments before will be more likely to stick to their monthly payments.
