Police Cracking Down on Unpaid Child Support Cases

Police in Woodland are cracking down on negligent parents who have failed to make child support payments.

According to Mark Jones, the director of the Yolo County Department of Child Support Services, one man was sentenced to 84 days in the county jail and will be given a probationary term after that. He will have to serve 30 days immediately with 54 days suspended on his sentence. However, if he should violate any of the terms of his probation, he will have to serve the 54 days as punishment.

Since the man failed to provide work search reports to the county, as well as make child support payments, the court found him guilty of 28 counts of contempt. However, he was found not guilty on two counts of failing to pay support. In a statement to the press, Child Support Attorney Colin Anderson said that the man, "was given every opportunity to do the right thing and live up to his responsibility to support his son."

If you're owed child support, now is the time to enlist the services of a family lawyer who can help you get the payments you are owed.
