Mother Struggles While Waiting for Unpaid Child Support

Jodi Drabik is one of thousands of mothers who have lost their patience waiting for unpaid child support.

She divorced her ex-husband back in 2000, and is now raising their three teenage children by herself. Drabik was forced to move her family from a nice home to a two-bedroom apartment. Since her ex pays little to no child support, Drabik has been forced to pick up two part-time jobs to make ends meet.

Her ex currently owes $38,701.66 in back support and doesn't seem any closer to making payments than he was before. However, when he went before the court on July 16 of last year, he was ordered to make payments of $1,652.40 per month to pay down the arrearage. If he does not make these payments, he faces up to 90 days in jail.

At this time, he has agreed to make the payments, but has already petitioned the court for a continuance.
