Getty Expenses in Divorce

As reported by ABC News and other sources, after nine years of marriage, 44-year-old Jacqueline "Jacqui" Getty is suing for divorce and spousal support from 45-year-old Gordon Peter Getty Jr., the grandson of billionaire tycoon, J. Paul Getty.  Getty Jr. is an heir to a $2,000,000,000 fortune.

Jacqueline is seeking $1 million per month in spousal support so that she can live in the same style she had during the marriage.

Her expenses, as listed in legal papers filed in Los Angeles, include $300,000 to $500,000 per year on clothing, $50,000 for Halloween parties, jewelry, $40,000 for birthday parties, three to four annual trips to the private Getty compound in Hawaii, use of the Getty Boeing 737 jet and a $1,000,000 bed.

Early on in the proceedings Jacqueline contended that Getty had a history of beating her, acting crazy and threatening her life.  In one such fight, Jacqueline maintains, Getty broke her arm. She also reported that Getty has addictions to computer porn and cocaine.

As their marriage continued to unravel, Jacqueline stated that Getty grew thin and his behavior worsened. Jacqueline also grew suspicious that Getty was seeing other women.  The alleged adultery prompted her to see a counselor and subsequently make the decision to leave the marriage.

Per L.A. Superior Court, Getty "had a bad, violent temper during the last two years of the marriage." When Jacqueline confronted him over his "unhealthy and inappropriate habits" he choked her and threatened to kill her. She now has a court order to keep Getty a minimum of 100 feet away from her.

Jacqueline appeared in court surrounded by no less than 15 friends, most of which from the Coppola family.

The Coppola ties stem from "Francis Ford Coppola's son Gio's girlfriend is Jacqui de La Fontaine. Jacqui has a daughter named Gia, who was fathered by Gio Coppola, before he was killed in a boating accident. Francis took in Jacqui de La Fontaine and Gia, and helped to finance their living. Later on, Jacqui married Paul Getty. But Jacqui and the Coppolas have always remained close. The Coppola family and relatives are presently supporting Jacqui in her fight against her estranged husband."

Before Jacqueline's marriage to Getty, it was Coppola that took care of her and her daughter Gia. He bought them a house in Hollywood Hills and later, walked her down the aisle when she married Getty.

Getty appeared in court alone and fell asleep during proceedings. Either the Coppolas, or other friends of Jacqueline's, videotaped him to show as evidence of his substance abuse. Jacqueline has sent a photograph of Getty to media outlets, which depicts him with unkempt hair and dried blood beneath his nostrils, to also illustrate his drug use.

A prenuptial agreement is considered to have been made, but has not hit mainstream news yet. The couple has no children together though Getty has reportedly supported Jacqueline's daughter Gia Coppola.
