Virginia to Implement New Child Support System

Customers who currently rely on Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and child support payments will be asked to use a new system in Richmond, VA, effective November 1. Instead of using their EPICard to access funds through Wachovia Bank and Wells Fargo, customers will use a new network, the MoneyPass Network, to obtain their funds, according to the Virginia Department of Social Services.

Officials from Social Services stated that customers should continue to use their EPICard until the beginning of November, however, after that date, customers will be subject to transaction charges if they use their card. The switch over to the MoneyPass Network promises to provide customers with additional free ATM teller transactions, fewer cash withdrawal fees, and a wider network in which to use their card. This only applies to banks that are Mastercard member branches, ATMs that accept the MoneyPass Network cards, and Credit Union teller branches.
