Man Gets Prison Time for Failure to Make Child Support Payments

In his 18 years as the district attorney of Pierce County, John O'Boyle can't remember a man ever being given prison time for failing to pay child support like Raymond K. Meadows was this week. The 41 year old New Richmond father was sentenced to 18 months in prison, in addition to two years of extended supervision that includes complete sobriety, mandatory counseling, full-time employment, and paying restitution.

It was brought to the attention of Circuit Court Judge Joseph Boles who saw that O'Boyle had entered into a three-year deferred prosecution agreement (DPA). He had initially been charged in July 2009 when he failed to make any payments between January and June 2009 and entered into the DPA at that time. However, the DPA was revoked in June which meant that Judge Boles had no choice but to proceed straight to sentencing, as O'Boyle was automatically to be found guilty of the charges against him.
