Domestic Violence Rally to Take Place in San Diego

This Saturday in San Diego, people who are concerned about domestic violence are scheduled to hold a rally in Balboa Park.  During the rally, individuals will call for an end to family of abuse and violence.

Throughout the county last year, there were more than 17,000 incidents of domestic violence reported to local law enforcement agencies.  Additionally, officials report there were 28 homicides related to family violence.

According to Dawn Griffin, the president of the San Diego Domestic Violence Council, we need to have better policies in place if we hope to reduce abuse in families and physical assaults.  She said, "we get to know both the victim and the batterer, and provide the right kind of services based on their background, their culture, and where they want to go in the future."

The event will feature speakers, musical performances and a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of domestic violence. 3,000 individuals are expected to attend.

If you are the victim of domestic violence, now is the time to seek help from a family law attorney.
