Did Murder Occur Because of Alimony?

A stockbroker in Prescott, Arizona can take a temporary deep breath after a judge granted him a mistrial in his murder case. Steven DeMocker was brought to the Yavapi County Superior Court several times but his trial was delayed for all of them, partly because three of his lawyers withdrew from his case for "ethical reasons". When two new lawyers were brought to DeMocker's case they informed the judge that they would need several months to familiarize themselves with the material.

The judge finally took whisperings of the court to heart and granted a mistrial. If convincted during his eventual trial, DeMocker could face a life sentence.

Members of the prosecution allege that the 56-year-old stockbroker bludgeoned his ex-wife, Carol Kennedy, to death with a golf club to avoid paying outrageous alimony bills.
