Pennsylvania Mother Seeking Custody Charged with Hiring Hit Man to Off Her Ex

A Pennsylvania woman is accused of plotting to hire a hit man to kill her ex-boyfriend in an attempt to take full custody of the couple's infant son. 41-year-old Charlene Marie Hughes claims that she is innocent and merely said the wrong things to the wrong people when she was under the influence of alcohol.

State police say they caught Hughes in an undercover sting. Hughes allegedly told an undercover trooper that she wanted her ex-boyfriend's house burned down with him inside so that she could take custody of their son. Police say Hughes told the trooper that she could give him a deposit for the hit after she received a child support payment.

Hughes is charged with solicitation to commit murder and arson and is currently being held on $150,000 bail. Her lawyer, Patrick Thomassey says that the entire case is an overreaction to a heated custody battle.

If you are going through a messy child custody battle, it is a wise idea to find a family lawyer who can help you reach the best possible outcome.
