Murder Suspect Files for Annulment

Stephanie Sloop recently filed a petition with the 2nd District Court for the annulment of her marriage to Nathan Sloop.  27 year old Stephanie and her 31 year old husband stand accused of killing their 4 year old son, Ethan Stacy.  On May 11th, the child's body was found in Ogden Canyon and aggravated murder charges were filed against his parents.

According to Stephanie, her marriage to Nathan was the result of physical duress, which is why she is seeking an annulment at this time.  The couple was married on May 6th and police say that while the couple got married, their son was locked in a bedroom.   In a probable cause statement, it is written that the couple did not take the boy to the courthouse "because they were afraid to take him out in public with the swelling and bruising to his face."

Prior to their marriage, the couple had been engaged for several months.  In her petition, Stephanie did not state which surname she prefers.  She only requests that she be able to secure her personal property from the apartment that she shared with Nathan.

If you are thinking about getting an annulment, it is always a wise idea to obtain help from an experienced family law attorney first.
